WFAN Offers 15 Annual Conference Scholarships Funded by REAP

UnknownWFAN is pleased to offer 15 annual conference scholarships to aspiring or beginning women farmers or current farmland owners in Iowa. The 2015 annual conference is Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 and 7 in Davenport, IA. This year’s theme is Women Protecting Pollinators, Protecting Food. Our funder is the Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) Conservation Education Program of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Scholarships are available to women who successfully complete an application and agree to return to their communities after the conference and improve or create pollinator habitat on the land they own, manage, or farm.

If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be reimbursed for up to $200 in conference-related expenses after attending the conference and submitting a brief evaluation form. You will be required to attend the Friday afternoon (Nov. 6) pollinator intensive from 1 - 5 p.m., and at least one pollinator-related workshop on Saturday (Nov. 7).

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible applicants, as long as funding is available. We will try to respond to your application within 3 weeks of receiving it.

If you receive a scholarship, you will be required to write a brief description of your educational experience at the conference, and respond to any follow-up surveys sent to you by WFAN.

The selection committee reserves the right to reject incomplete applications, or to return incomplete or unclear applications for additional information.
